As has been the tradition since 1994, also this year “the parties” will come together to discuss the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (aka “U-N-F-Triple C”), a treaty with the objective to “stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that would prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system.”
This year hosted by the Pacific island of Fiji, the Summit will take place in Bonn, Germany, from November 6th to November 17th.
Part of the COP tradition is an increasing presence of those industries most responsible for climate change: big agribusiness, transport, and of course: fossil fuels. And yes, also the gas industry is planning to join the party (of the parties) and bring with it many many liters of greenwashing champagne and kilos of false solution peanuts.
We wouldn’t be gastivists if we didn’t tell you where they will be hanging out, so we can join their party ;).
On this page you’ll find an agenda of events, both by the gas industry as by civil society, so you can carefully plan your meetings with other gas fans that will be hanging around Bonn ;).
For now, a link to the general civil society event agenda:
More to come later.
